KRS NEWS FOCUS OF THE WEEK:
H1N1 PREVENTION
”AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION IS WORTH A POUND OF CURE”
WHAT IS H1N1?
Study has shown that this new virus is very different from what normally circulates in North American pigs and humans. It has two genes from flu viruses that normally circulate in pigs in Europe and Asia and bird (avian) genes and human genes. Scientists call this a "quadruple
reassortant" virus.
HOW CAN I PREVENT H1N1?
Common sense is usually the best cure for virus prevention. Wash your hands frequently, use hand sanitizers when unable to wash your hands, do not touch your face, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze (and then wash your hands), avoid contact with those infected with H1N1, enact safe cleaning programs and processes, use EPA registered disinfectants with appropriate effectiveness against Type A Influenza strains.
IS H1N1 REALLY AS BIG OF A DEAL AS THE MEDIA MAKES IT OUT TO BE?
We think it important to take all viruses and bacteria seriously – mostly because we are in the cleaning business and have seen the impact of effective cleaning on productivity and efficiency.
WHAT STEPS CAN I TAKE TO AVOID H1N1?
Deb SBS manufactures a wide variety of anti-microbial hand soaps and hand sanitizers, KRS sells a extensive array of sanitizers, disinfectants, and wipes. They include: WipesPlus Disinfectant Wipes and PEROXY HDOX (hydrogen peroxide based multi purpose cleaner / disinfectant / sanitizer / fungicide / virucide / deodorant).
